Funny Nonna

DH's grandma makes me laugh quite often.
To give you an image of what she is like - she's a little feisty Italian Grandmother.
She is the boss of the family without even trying.
She loves me very much, and I love her right back.
Last Christmas, part of our gift to her was a glass Lazy Susan.
She has outdone herself in what she did with it.
This just made me so happy... and so giggly.

Creating a poached disaster

Erin's post about Poached Eggs inspired the 'wanna-be-chef' in me, and made me try my own version.
So I watched a couple of Youtube videos on how to do this, and thought to myself: I am Ready!
Got up, put vinegar in water, boiled it, submerged egg (still in cup), and spilled it out..
I then decided that I can make 2 at a time (double the result, equal effort).
This is what happened to the glass when I tried to input egg#2.

I was disappointed, but determined to complete my task.
I looked over at the pot...
and realized...
That this poached egg is not as determined as I am..
I removed it off the heat in defeat.

This is what my poached egg looks like now...
Big huge fail!

But at least I have some toast...
For a Peanut Butter Jelly sandwich.

On a brighter note, last night was this very eerie weather, with lots of wind.
When the rain eased up a bit, I walked out to the balcony, and tried to capture the sunset.
Enjoy!

La la la...Lump in my Oatmeal

Today I made my (now perfected) Oatmeal recipe.

Start with 1/3 cup of Oatmeal, and a tablespoon of Flax

Add to a boiling 1 cup of water, and bring to boil (watch! it will be quick)
Simmer the oatmeal for 5 minutes.

Cut up one apple
1 handful  of chopped almonds & Pecans

6 Raisins

After the 5 minutes, add the raisins & nuts (I like my nuts soggy)
and a little bit of cinnamon

Once the oatmeal is at your preferred consistency, add the apples.

Cover, and take off heat for about 5 minutes (or until apples are at your preferred consistency).
And VoilĂ Breakfast and my very large coffee are served.

And now, to sum it all up - I give you Bert & Ernie

YouTube is the best

Now that YouTube exists and everyone can get their 15 minutes of fame with a click of a button our lives must be a little more culturally rich.
This is why I am amused by the following video having over 1.2 Mil viewers.
Enjoy :)
