Genius marketing moment

I Always say that sales is not so much about the product, but rather about how people find the info about it.
Whether its a sales-pitch, a brand, or a commercial - The packaging is more important then what's inside.
Hey, we're human!
We judge books by their cover, whether we like to admit it or not.
So when I stumbled across this Clio Award winning commercial, I couldn't resist sharing.
This definitely deserved the award it got.
Enjoy!

it's all about who knows you..

When we moved we forwarded all our post to the new address.
We did it with a service through Canada Post until Everyone actually changes our address - they add a yellow forwarding label to mail that's sent to the old address.
So every month I wait anxiously, as the number of yellow stickies reduces.
I did start catching on to getting an increase in the number in the last few months.
When I investigated further (ie. looked at the mail), I found out that this was all from donation seeking organizations, seeking my hubby..
After a few phone calls of "please remove us from your list, yes, we are not interested, Thank you." I found out that they all got his name and address from this one place he donated $2 to 3 years ago.
Apparently he did not check the 'do not distribute my name to EVERYONE else' box..
So where am I going with this boring story about my mail you ask?
Well, I have 2 points:
1) Always check the 'do not distribute my name to EVERYONE else' box - you'll save yourself MANY MANY telephone calls.
2) One of the places that sent us mail was the Alzheimer's society. They sent us a 'Reminder Pad'...

More about the Green, and some fashion

This morning I tried to make the green monster.
This time, a little less Spinach (read previous post), and almond butter instead of peanut.
Result? Great Success!!
Very green, and exceptionally yummy this time around.
On a brighter topic, Toronto Fashion Week is approaching, and my calendar is filling up quickly with some very interesting shows. Creativity is definitely the name of the game with this upcoming fashion week.
I am looking forward to seeing what Canadian designers have up their sleeve.
To make matters even more exciting - the weather is getting better.
A recent interesting development I just read about is Vouge's AndrĂ© Leon Talley's new role as a judge on America's Next Top Model. I'll admit to following this show (occasionally) but I have to say that this little tidbit caught me by surprise. It's not yet showing here in Canada, so I have not seen it with my own eyes just yet.
But I am not really sure how to take this piece of news..
Is he done with Vogue? I think that would be a shame..
Is Miss AW next to appear on ANTM?
Here's hoping that's not happening anytime soon.
I think Vogue must keep its' status by abstaining from reality television.
But I am now VERY curious to see AndrĂ©'s appearance.
I am sure that was the whole point of bringing him on to the show - to make people like me curious...

Hope the sun is shining through your window, like it is over here.

My first Green Monster

I tried my first green monster this morning.

This is what it looks like..(Link for recipes)
I put in 2 handfuls of spinach, a banana, 1% milk, 6 frozen strawberries, 1/2 tsp Agave Nectar (for sweetness) and 1 tsp peanut butter.
I would be lying if I said I could not at all taste some of the spinach - my guess is that 2 handfuls is a bit much.
My next one will have 1 extra strawberry, almond butter instead of peanut, less milk, and definitely less spinach (maybe 1.5 handfuls).
I do feel full from it (I didn't even drink it all), and it's been 3 hours since I had it.
It's also sitting well in my stomach (which is a miracle!).
So I would recommend it.
I feel healthy drinking it, and it makes for a great quick breakfast.
Green monster review over. You can now return to your regularly scheduled programs.

Oscars night

Every year I spend 2 hours before the Oscars ceremony starts watching the red carpet.
It has become more important and interesting to me then the Oscars themselves.
I mean...of course the winning choices of the Academy (which I can mostly guess, but often disagree with) are fascinating, and commonly eventful.
But there's something about waiting to see what dress the top 5 'best actress' nominee have chosen.
I can often tell by the dresses, how surprised they will be to win / lose.
Here are my top 3 dress choices of the night.

Rachel McAdams
Is wearing an Elie Saab Haute Couture gown with a satin clutch by Ferragamo

I love that she chose something not black.
this dress is timeless. It has elements of a fairy, without losing from its polished glamorous look.
She is showing enough skin that it is sexy, and yet remains dignified.
Classic glamor!

Kristen Stewart
Is wearing a Monique Lhuillier Midnight Blue gown, with Bally shoes.
Great classic cut.
Timeless dress.
Did not kill the beautiful simplicity of it with accessories.
This look is good for Oscars 2010, but will probably be great for Oscars 2110.
I am a sucker for a good classic - and here is a great one.

Carey Mulligan
Is wearing a Prada black strapless dress paired with a black duchess satin hard case clutch and black pleated duchesse platform heels, also by Prada.
I am not a fan of the 'easy' choice of a black dress for an Academy Award ceremony - but frankly, you cannot go wrong with Prada.
Very young, very modern, very fresh, and Very unique.
A great black dress for the Oscars.

I definitely had other favorites, but non stood out like these 3 to me.
Which dresses were your favorites?
Which would you wear?

So what is this Funny Lil' idea all about?

I had a funny lil' idea tonight about blogging.
I have my own personal diary type of blog.
It's there to help me. No one else.
But what am I really contributing to World Wide Web?
Not much..
So I decided to start this Blog as my Contribution / Soapbox to the rest of the world.
My way to send out some good karma, and hopefully help someone along the way.
So here are the rules;
Please feel free to ask me about anything.
I consider myself as a great researcher, and if I don't know it - I'll enjoy finding out for you.
I plan to share my knowledge and opinions about many different matters.
These are my knowledge and opinions.
This is not my way to discredit anyone.
So please enjoy the read, and share your ideas.
